Distilled with passion, driven by purpose
At Mates Distillery in Wonthaggi, Victoria, we craft exceptional medal-winning spirits that gives back. As a social enterprise, our mission is simple: to make smooth-sipping spirits while creating lasting opportunities for those who need a hand.
Making an impact with every pour
Founder, distiller, head bottlewasher, and general dogsbody, Kim, started Mates Distillery to create meaningful handcrafted spirits. Every bottle reflects patience, dedication, and community spirit.
We believe great spirits should serve a greater good. As a social enterprise, every bottle you buy makes a tangible difference.
Our primary beneficiary is the Dream Big Australia Foundation, whose mission is to create positive, lifelong memories for underprivileged children. We also invest in local community initiatives across Gippsland.
Our Founding Members
Our amazing Founding Members, who heard a call to arms, who heard one persons dream to do something better and took a leap of faith to be part of something amazing... thank you xx
Meet Gibbs, the Distillery Dog
No distillery visit in Wonthaggi is complete without greeting Gibbs, our official distillery dog and head of morale. He keeps watch over every distillation and welcomes visitors with a wagging butt and polite request for a belly scratch.
